We want to face Gor Mahia in GOTV Shield final – Bandari
Mombasa-based Bandari FC want to face Gor Mahia in the final of the GOTV Shield Cup.
It will be a double celebration if they get their wish because if Gor Mahia make it to the final, then Bandari will automatically represent Kenya in the confederations cup even before playing in the final.
The winner of the GOTV Shield earns a ticket for the confederations cup but Gor Mahia will be playing in the CAF Champions league after winning the SportPesa Premier League, meaning if they make it to the cup final, then their opponent, whether they win or lose will be enter the Confederations Cup.
“We have unfinished business with Gor Mahia. They beat us in the final of this cup when it was known as the Moi Golden Cup in 1996. We want to avenge that defeat,” said Bandari coach Twahir Muhidin.
Bandari were ruthless in the semifinals against Muhoroni Youth, winning 4-1 with goals from Sharrif Mohammed, Musa Mudde, and two goals from David Kingatua.
Bandari will wait for the winner of the quarterfinal between Administration Police and Gor Mahia to play Nakumatt in the other semi-final.
