Kisumu once again proved why it is fast becoming a hotspot for esports after hundreds of fans turned up at Alliance Française Kisumu on Sunday for the latest leg of the Kenya Esports Series.
The Lake Series, one of the major stops on the
national calendar, featured intense battles in EA FC 26, FC Mobile, and eFootball
Mobile, with the best performers booking their tickets to the National Finals
scheduled for February 2026 in Nairobi.
In the EA FC 26 category, Kisingo Bashir, better known simply as Bashir, was the day’s standout. He knocked out home favorite James Awinyo (Dulo) in the semifinals before storming to a 6–3 win over Allan Mwinami (Opto99) in a lively final.
Dulo recovered well to beat Joash Agutu
(Jojodapey) 4–3 in the third-place playoff, much to the delight of the home
crowd. Bashir, Opto99, Dulo, Jojodapey, and Leone Mwaura (Marlone77) claimed
the five qualification slots.
FC Mobile produced another strong field, with Brian
Shisia keeping his nerve to take the top spot. He was followed by the consistent
David Ochiel, while young prospect Darren Cole impressed with a solid run to
finish third. All three progress to the finals.
In eFootball Mobile, Lincoln Ewoi put on a commanding
show to win the category. He topped a competitive lineup ahead of David
Kipngetich and Castro Aggrey, who finished second and third, respectively.
With Kisumu done, the series now shifts focus to
upcoming stops in Mombasa and Nairobi before the much-anticipated National
Finals.
