Bidco coach Akhulia tells his charges to improve on their defensive frailties

Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has told his defensive players and his team in general to tighten their boots to ensure they do not concede goals easily, citing a leaky defence as their major undoing.

In the 12 matches they have played in the 2022-23 season, Bidco have kept only two clean sheets, against Nairobi City Stars in the opening round and against Wazito in the fourth round.

"Our rate of conceding goals is not good because even in the matches we have won, we still allow goals in our net. Scoring goals for us is not a problem, we are fine there, but now every time we score goals, we must prevent our opponents from scoring and then we will win the match easily," said Akhulia.

On Saturday in a game played at the Kasarani Annex Stadium, a 92nd minute penalty from Kevin Musamali ensured Kariobangi Sharks shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw after Alex Keke had scored for Bidco earlier on in the third minute.

With that result Sharks extended their unbeaten run to four matches (W2, D2) while Bidco conceded in their seventh game running.

"A coach cannot enter the field and play and that's why I say my players must be responsible on the field. How we played in the dying minutes against Bidco is how we should always play for the whole ninety minutes," Muluya said.

After playing 12 matches, Bidco are placed eleventh with 15 points. They have scored 15 goals and conceded 14, a clear sign that there is a problem defensively.

On the other side Sharks are placed ninth with 15 points from 11 matches.
