Bidco United giving back to society

As a way of giving back to society, Bidco Football Club today visited Kwetu Home of Peace – a rehabilitation centre for street boys in Madaraka, Nairobi.

In the Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) activity, Bidco United donated assorted items – clothes, beverages, foodstuff, cooking oil, edible fats, home and personal care products courtesy of BIDCO AFRICA Limited.

According to the club’s head coach Japheth Akhulia, the visit marked the beginning of a long-term partnership between the and Kwetu Home of Peace.

“Whereas our intention is to mentor these boys to achieve their dreams, we shall also identify and develop talent from them as they come of age.

“Our goal is to help them integrate well into the society without ever thinking about life in the streets. Our parent Company BIDCO Africa has been supporting them on a monthly basis with products to enhance happy healthy living, our duty now is to help them achieve their dreams,” explained Akhulia.

The centre is run by nuns from the Catholic Church in Kenya and according to Reverend Sister Caroline Ngatia, their goal to reform and rehabilitate has since taken a new dimension with growing needs and challenges that the boys face.

The centre picks street boys three times a year who are then through an elaborate process of reintegration.

“However, we are faced with financial challenges of educating them past primary education since most of them perform very well in KCPE & KCSE,” lamented Sister Caroline.

“We would really like to thank BIDCO Africa for their continued support. Most the boys lack father figures in their lives; with this partnership at least each boy now has someone to look up to.

“BIDCO has promised to walk the journey with the boys through mentorship programs, trainings and coaching, we remain grateful even as we call upon more well wishers to come to the aid of the boy child,” she added.

Bidco United are currently second on 42 points after round 20 matches in the hotly contested National Super League. City Stars lead with 49 points.
