Bitok hails KVF League intensify as giants plot semis faceoff

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Deputy President Paul Bitok has praised the intensity and competitiveness of this season's National Volleyball League, as the spotlight now shifts to Mombasa for the highly anticipated National League semi-final play-offs from May 23 to 25.

The semi-finals are set to take place next weekend at the Makande Gymnasium, with preparations already in top gear. Bitok expressed confidence in the hosting arrangements, thanking the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) for their sponsorship and logistical support.

“Everything is in place in Mombasa, and the city is ready to host us. We sincerely thank KPA for sponsoring the semi-final play-offs. Most teams have arrived in Mombasa since Monday to allow themselves time for acclimatization,”said Bitok.

In the men's semi-final fixtures, defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) will face off against Equity Bank, while Kenya Prisons will battle it out with hosts KPA as women’s side KCB face off with Kenya Pipeline, in one of the semi-final clashes. In the meantime, Kenya Prisons will battle vibrant Directorate of Criminal Investigations in another semis. The Oilers and Bankers arrived in the Coastal region on Monday afternoon.

Bitok also announced a new partnership with Aga Khan Academy, which has constructed a modern indoor arena to support training activities. The Makande Gymnasium will serve as the main competition venue.

“We are excited to welcome Aga Khan as a new partner. Their newly built arena will be used for training sessions, while the matches will be played at Makande Gymnasium,” he revealed.

This highly anticipated three-day showdown promises world-class action as top-tier volleyball teams battle it out for a spot in the national finals.
