Kibera Black Stars head coach Iddi Badi has lauded the impact of his new recruits after they played a starring role in the teams hard-fought 10 victory over Kabati Youth in a National Super League encounter at the weekend.

The tactician handed first starts to five new players, a bold decision that paid off as Kibera secured all three points. Among those trusted with starting roles were Darryl Odhiambo, Joshua Otieno, Raydon Munane, and Glen Odhiambo, who all delivered composed performances in a tightly contested fixture.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Badi expressed his satisfaction with the contribution of the newcomers, noting that their confidence and understanding of the teams style of play will only improve with more game time.

"These are the players we wanted to sign and I'm happy they gave us three important points after introducing them to play. Even though there was no chemistry to an extent, I still believe they will adopt, " Bado said.

One of the standout performers, Joshua Otieno, could not hide his excitement after making his debut start. The midfielder described the moment as a dream come true and promised to give his all in helping the club achieve its ambition of earning promotion to the top flight.

"I am happy to have made my debut with the Kibera Black Stars and won, our goal is to win matches, and my target is to help the club earn a place in the FKF Premier League," said Otieno.

The victory saw Kibera Black Stars consolidate their position in eighth place on the NSL standings with 33 points, keeping them in touch with the promotion-chasing pack. They now trail league leaders Mombasa United by 13 points as the season enters a crucial phase.

For Kabati Youth, the defeat leaves them in 14th position with 24 points after 22 matches, increasing the pressure as the battle to climb away from the lower end of the table intensifies.

With momentum building and new signings settling in, Kibera Black Stars will be hopeful of mounting a strong push in the remaining fixtures as they chase a place in the Premier League.
