Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) clinched back-to-back victories in the Kenya National Women’s Basketball Premier League, boosting their confidence heading into the final round of regular league season.
On Saturday, KPA delivered a strong performance against
Strathmore Swords, sealing a 73-51 win with dominant displays on both ends of
the court. They followed up on Sunday with another solid win, edging past ANU
Panthers 83-39 to complete a perfect weekend.
The double victory lifts the Dockers closer to their regular
league season campaign.
Assistant head coach Samuel Ocholla was full of praise for
the team's effort and determination.
“We had a good weekend for the team because we won both
matches and weren't just winning but winning with great margins. The victories
were as a result of great preparations and it won’t just end there as we have
our eyes on the trophy,” Ocholla said.
With their sights now set on the final game against Zetech
Sparks before the playoffs, the team is aiming to maintain momentum and finish
the season on a high. A win in their last fixture could further improve their
position on the league table and boost their seeding for the playoffs.
Ocholla emphasized that the team will remain focused: “With
one game remaining, we will continue practicing and working hard to finish the
regular season with the same mindset and start preparing for playoffs which we
expect to have a good run. So far so good and we continue to fight till the
end,” Ocholla added.
KPA now tops the league standings with 41 points from 21
games, winning 20 and losing one.
Zetech are second with 40 points from 21 matches too, after
winning 19 and losing two.
