Boxing fraternity mourns the death of coach Mucine Mzungu

The Boxing Federation of Kenya(BFK) is once again in mourning following the death of coach Mike Mucine who at the time of his demise was a 3-star International Boxing Association (AIBA) certified coach.

Mucine died aged 58 on Saturday while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Mombasa.

At the time of his death he was the head coach of Mbaraki Boxing Club in Mombasa County.

In his decorated boxing career he handled, among others, Kenya’s boxing team to the World Youth Championship in Armenia, in 2013, as well as the team that took part in the World Youth Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2014, the Senior World Championship in Baku which also acted as Olympic qualifiers and also the World Championships held in Hamburg Germany.

“Coach Mike left a huge gap in boxing coaching in Mombasa County and the region at large as we was the only Aiba three-star certified coach,”BFK mourned in a statement.
