Mully Children's Family FC has been reinstated to the National Super League after withdrawing midway through the 2025/2026 season, citing financial constraints.

The founder and director, Dr Charles Muli, said the club's return followed extensive discussions with FKF officials, led by president Hussein Mohammed, who visited last week and offered assurances of support to overcome the challenges that prompted the initial pull-out after 18 matches.

Speaking at the MCF home in Ndalani, Yatta, Dr Muli, confirmed that players have been recalled and training has resumed ahead of this weekend's fixtures.

The withdrawal which forced a reset of the league standings with all MCF results nullified, under FKF rules, stemmed from funding shortages that left the club unable to meet essential obligations for its players.

"We played for three years in the NSL, and I then realised we have a shortage of funds, and I thought if we don't stop, we will be very embarrassed because the players need salaries, food, accommodation, uniforms, and many other things. So we had to stop and prepare ourselves in matters of football," Dr Muli explained.

He added that the FKF delegation's encouragement and promise of assistance were key to reversing the decision.

"Last week, the FKF delegates visited us, led by Hussein Mohammed, who is the president of football in Kenya, and I explained that the problem was a lack of funds.

"They encouraged me and invited us back to the NSL, explaining that some people have offered to help us. Because of the kindness shown, I was very happy and decided that we could start again."

Dr Muli confirmed that he has issued letters inviting all players to return, with some beginning to report, although not everyone has arrived yet.

"Therefore, I have written a letter inviting all the players back, for them to come back so that we can continue training. Most of them are not yet back, but we pray they come back so that we can continue with our football."

The two fixtures MCF failed to honour before withdrawing will be rescheduled by the FKF, with new dates to be confirmed.

While Muli did not detail the financial support pledged, it has emerged that poor performance also contributed to the earlier disbandment, prompting the appointment of a new coach to steer the team through the second leg.

The reinstatement gives MCF a fresh start in the NSL under the banner of the Mully Children's Family charitable organisation, which has long used sports as a tool for youth empowerment and community development.

The move comes as the league seeks to support clubs facing financial and operational hurdles, ensuring competitive balance and stability in the second tier.
