Dr Christian Emeruwa, CAF’s
Head of Safety and Security, conducted a second inspection at Nairobi’s Nyayo
Stadium on November 28, 2024, as preparations for next year’s African Nations
Championship (CHAN) continue.
The delegation also assessed key facilities, including major
hotels such as Kempinski, Radisson Blu Upper Hill, JW Marriott, and Hyatt
Regency, which are set to accommodate visiting teams.
Additionally, they inspected
training grounds at Ulinzi Sports Complex and Kenya Police Sacco Stadium, which
will be used during the tournament.
Arriving in Kenya on November 27, the CAF team began their
inspection at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
On November 29, they are
scheduled to evaluate Kasarani Stadium, one of the main venues for CHAN, as
well as Kasarani Annex, a potential training facility.
“Since the first inspection, the country has made good
progress,” noted the CAF pitch inspection officials. “All three host nations,
Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, are progressing well in their preparations for the
event.”
The 2024 CHAN tournament, hosted jointly by the three East
African nations, is expected to showcase the region’s capacity to host
international football events.
