The Confederation of African Football (CAF) third vice president Pierre Alain Mounguengui and his delegation are set to inspect Kenyan stadiums and training facilities on Friday, ahead of the CHAN tournament scheduled to kick off on August 2.

The Gabonese official touched down in the country on Thursday, accompanied by fellow CAF officials, to evaluate Kenya’s readiness to host the continental showpiece.

The inspectors arrived from Kampala, Uganda where they also assessed venues for the tournament.

The championship, which is for domestic-based players, was initially set to be held in February but was delayed to give the hosting nations—Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania— time to ensure facilities are ready.

With just two months remaining before the tournament kicks off, major venues — Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium — along with the training grounds, are still undergoing renovations.

Kenya is in Group A alongside two time champions Morocco and DR Congo, Angola and Zambia.
