Champs Miathene, Meru School off to a flying start

The 11th edition of the Meru Opens kicked off Saturday with defending rugby champions Miathene Boys High School recording a bright start humbling Kagumo High 31-0 in their opening Pool A match before crushing Kanyakine High and Hindus Day 120 and 24-0 respectively.

The impressive show has left Miathene coach Patrick Mwika purring noting that his aim is to defend the crown.

” I’m happy with today’s results and my aim is to retain the title and focus on the school games in March where we hope to proceeds to the nationals,” Mwika said.

Defending basketball champions Meru School showed their competitors no mercy thrashing Gundua Day School 34-10 and Githongo 30-3.

Meru School coach Paul Muli is keeping his head high in the wake of the storming start, hopeful that his team will also do well and defend their title tomorrow.

” It’s a good start; we have not faced any challenge in this campaign so far, we hope to defend the title,” he bullishly charged.
