Champs Ulinzi Warriors to face Terror in season opener

The 2019 Kenya men basketball league champions, Ulinzi Warriors,  will begin their title defence against newly promoted side University of Nairobi Terror while runners up Nairobi City Thunder tip off against Umoja in the 2020 fixtures released by Kenya Basketball Federation Secretary Joseph Amoka.

With last season’s Most Valuable Player and one of the shining lights in Moran’s recent success at the Afro Basket Victor Bosire, Warriors have one of the region’s best talents to help them shoot down any opponents.

Sadat Gaya coached Nairobi City Thunder will be hoping to get their hands on the coveted title they came within a  touching distance of winning following their runners up finish last season.

Twenty years on since their last triumph, they tip off their campaign against title hopefuls Umoja at the Nyayo Indoor Gymnasium on March 22.

University side Strathmore Blades will test their sharpness against bankers Equity men who were eliminated by EMYBA in last season’s quarter finals.

EMYBA, playing their second consecutive season in the league also hope to go a step further into the finals when they tip off their offensive against neighbours Lakeside at the Kisumu Sports ground.

Meanwhile, Equity bank ladies, under the stewardship of new coach, Sylvia Kamau, will hope to retain the title for the third season running when they begin their season against United States International University-A side.

All team managers are expected to avail themselves for a meeting on March 15 at the Nairobi Railways Club where rules and regulations guiding the new season are set to be issued out before the commencement of the new season.
