Former Harambee Stars striker Dennis Oliech has called on Kenyan football fans to turn up in large numbers for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), saying their presence will be key in pushing the national team to success.

Oliech, who was unveiled as the brand ambassador for the Pamoja CHAN 2024 campaign on Friday, said the tournament offers a chance to unite the country through football and showcase local talent on a continental stage.

“The fans are the ones who will motivate the players. If they turn up in numbers, they’ll push the team. Without them, the players will be demoralized.”

He urged supporters to set aside political differences and club rivalries for the sake of national pride.

“This is our team, let's come together and support it as one.”

Oliech also encouraged the young players in the squad to treat CHAN as a vital stepping stone in their careers and a platform they should utilize  well.

Harambee Stars are pooled in Group A alongside Morocco, Angola, DRC Congo and Zambia.

Benni McCarthy boys will kick off their CHAN campaign by locking horns with two-time champions DRC Congo before facing off with Angola later on.

Pundits have labeled Group A as the group of death and it will be an uphill task for Harambee Stars.
