Chemelil hand Bandari walkover as KPL cash crunch persists

Chemelil Sugar FC handed out their first walk over in the Kenya Premier League this season after failing to show up for their match against Bandari FC at Mbaraki Mombasa.

This happened as the financial cruch continue hitting hard Kenyan clubs after the league sponsor pulled out.

Chemelil is among other five teams which have asked the league organisers to postpone the league until they are stable.

Centre referee Felix Ekai called the match after Chemelil didn’t appear for the pre-match and match respectively.

Three points and two goals now await Bandari who lost their last game against Sofapaka in Machakos.

Earlier today their Sugar counterpart Sony also didn’t played Tusker rising alarm on the stability of the top tier league.

On Thursday Kenyan Premier League (KPL) through its Chairman Jack Oguda lodged a formal request to the Government for financial aid to rescue the league and to help clubs to attend theur matches.

The KPL is currently without a title sponsor and broadcast partner and due to the current economic situation in the country they have not been able to attract corporates.

Bandari will now wait for the KPL to give way forward as three points await them.

The Benard Mwalala coached side will have time to prepare for their trip to Conakry Guinea for their first leg match against Horoya AC in CAF Confederation playoff match.
