Chepsaita is gearing up to host a world-class spectacle as
the third edition of the Chepsaita Cross Country Championship draws closer,
with the event slated for December 6, 2025.
Race Director Barbara Korir says Kenyans should expect the
biggest and most exciting edition yet.
Korir confirmed that preparations are fully aligned with World
Athletics standards, assuring participants and fans that everything is already
in place, with no last-minute rush expected.
“This event has grown really big in comparison with other
events in the world. This is number one. We have already hit 10,000 registered
participants, and I can assure you more people still want to register, but registration
is closed. It's going to be exciting, said Korir while giving an update of the
event.
He added that this year’s course will feature strategic
changes designed to enhance competitiveness and athlete safety, all while
meeting global requirements.
“There (are) some few changes to the course just to meet the
World Athletics standards and also to support the athletes who are competing
here, so the venue is on another level,” he noted.
A major upgrade in this year’s edition is the introduction
of a dedicated camping site for elite athletes within Chepsaita, a move that
will provide convenience and an improved training environment ahead of race
day.
Korir credited the development to the commitment and support
of the race patron, Sir Farouk Kibet.
“The patron has been very supportive in making this event
get to the level that it is, and this year we will be having camping sites for
accommodation to allow foreign athletes to come and reside here and prepare for
the competition,” stated the race director.
With world-class standards, improved facilities, and massive participation, Chepsaita is poised to cement its reputation as one of the region’s premier cross-country competitions.
