World Under-20 3000m bronze medalist Nancy Cherop won the girls 3000m under-18 category as trials for Africa junior championships kicked off Friday at the Nyayo Stadium.

Cherop clocked nine minutes, 8.34 seconds ahead of Joyline Chepkemoi who finished second in 9:16.03 as the duo sealed their tickets to the continental championships slated for April 29- May 3 in Lusaka, Zambia.
