City Stars has new owner; purchase coming after long financial struggles

Cash strapped Nairobi City Stars has been purchased by the recently founded Jonathan Jackson Foundation, named after its founder.

In a statement, the Foundation said that its owner Jonathan  Jackson, a Kenyan citizen, will assume the  Chairman ‘s role in place of exiting Peter Jabuya who has been at the helm for over 10 years .

Jonathan stated : “We are  aware of  the club ’s  recent challenges, but we thank  former Chair Peter (Jabuya) for  keeping  it as a unit for this long. Our most immediate objective is to  keep the team in  the league ( NSL ) as we  put in place elaborate plans for upcoming seasons.”

On his part, Jabuya  said: “I thank God for fulfilling my  desire to ensure that Nairobi City Stars stays afloat and not  to die because of financial challenges . After over ten years with it I  am happy to hand it over  to  an entity I  am sure is able to take it to greater  heights .”

At the same time the club has picked veteran online journalist Patrick Korir as its CEO while the technical bench remains unchanged with John Amboko and Tillien Oguta expected to continue guiding the club as it fends off relegation  threats.

City Stars are placed 17th in the 20-team National Super League on 26 points from 29 games
