Francis Chege, the head coach of National Super League club 3K
has tipped his side to continue their impressive run of form following a narrow
1-0 victory over Gucha Stars, as they prepare to face Soy United in what
promises to be a tough encounter next weekend.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital ahead of the fixture, Chege acknowledged that the upcoming match
will be the first time his team comes up against Soy United, describing them as
a formidable opponent.
"It will be our first encounter, they are a good team
with technical players, so it promises to be a very tough assignment but we
have to make our chances count if indeed we want to get points from
Eldoret," Chege said.
While confident in his squad’s ability, he ruled out any
notion of an easy game, stressing that his players must remain focused and
disciplined throughout.
Despite the optimism, Chege raised concerns over his team's
inefficiency in front of goal. He noted that the forwards have been squandering
clear scoring opportunities and emphasized the need to sharpen their finishing
if they are to secure positive results against stronger opposition.
"We must improve in some areas, we have to sharpen our
striking force. The defence is doing better because we have kept six clean
sheets in nine outings, which is commendable," Chege added.
Currently, 3K sit third in the standings after nine matches with 18 points. They trail table leaders Migori Youth by two points and are just one point behind second-placed Mombasa United, keeping them firmly in the title race. Chege believes that correcting their mistakes and maintaining consistency will be key as they push for the top spot.
