Coach Pinto backs Shakava to shine at Gor

Gor Mahia head coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto believes Haron Shakava will bring leadership and experience to the team struggling to find its footing in the FKF Premier League title race.

Having left Gor in 2019, the veteran defender has returned on a two-year deal after his contract with Zambian side Nkana FC was terminated in January.

“He understands the Kenyan league he is winner and he is a leader he bring in different quality from the defenders that we have at the moment so he is definitely a good addition to our team,” said Pinto

Pinto also called for patience on the new Brazilian striker Wilson Silva Fonseca as he tries to get to full fitness and adapt to Kenyan football having seen the Brazilian league end in November.

“He is a goal-scorer who can also play in different positions upfront at the moment he is getting match fitness having seen the Brazilian league in November but am happy with the way he is adopting to the Kenyan culture and soon Gor fans will be happy with the quality they will see in him,” the Brazilian added.

On the signing of Burkina Faso midfielder Abdul Karim Nikiema Zoko the Portuguese tactician said the midfielder will bring versatility in the team having worked with him at St Georges in Ethiopia.

The tactician confirmed the defending champions will not be active in the current transfer window as he is happy with the current squad.
