Mathare United have signed custodian David Okello from Tusker FC with just a week left before the transfer window close.

Mathare confirmed the move on their official Face book page, with the goalie penning a one- and- half- year deal, to become the club’s second signing after Emmanuel Otieno.

Okello is expected to plug the gap left by flamboyant goalie Wycliffe Kasaya who left the club to join cross-town rivals Sofapaka FC.

“It feels great to be back at home. The environment is familiar because I have played with some players here and also the system is one that I am used to,” Okello told the club’s website after linking up with his team-mates on Monday.

He added: “A lot is expected of me being the senior but they are young talented keepers who are ready to learn. Leading such a group is easy because they are hungry for success.”

At the same time, custodian Robert Mboya has also left Mathare just seven months after rejoining the club in January from Kariobangi Sharks.

Elsewhere, Wazito FC has lost Patience Lukige and Tumba Swedi, with the latter returning to Tanzania.

The Frank Ouna coached Wazito has however brought on board former Gor Mahia and Sofapaka midfielder Erick Ochieng, Edwin Wanjala, Zedric Imbotsa and Anthony Njeru.
