Dala Sevens: Mwamba inch closer to title defence

Defending Dala Sevens champions Mwamba RFC inched closer to a title defence after dismissing varsity side MMUST 24-5 in a quarter finals match staged Sunday afternoon at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Stadium, in Mamboleo Kisumu.
Mwamba, rank outsiders at Driftwood Sevens are enjoying a rich vein of form and defied the bookies odds to sail all the way to the final and pip Menengai Oilers to win the crown in Mombasa.
And here in Kisumu they are showing all the ingredients of retaining the gong after blowing away the students from Kakamega.
They have thus set the stage for a ferocious showdown with Homeboyz who beat Strathmore Leos 12-7 to sail through.
In other fixtures, reigning national sevens circuit champions KCB RFC will attempt to get to the final when you they meet Driftwood Sevens runners up Menengai Oilers.
The contest has been billed a final before the final and the likely winner could go all the way to claim the Dala title.
To get to this stage Oilers defeated Nondies 12-0 while KCB were 40-7 winners over Catholic Monks.
