Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) assistant head coach Samuel Ocholla was all smiles after guiding the Dockers to the Kenya National Women’s Basketball Premier League title with a dominant 3-0 sweep over Zetech Sparks.

The triumph, clinched in front of away fans in Nairobi, marked sweet redemption for KPA after last season’s heartbreak when they surrendered the crown to Equity Hawks.

KPA sealed the deal with a 59-51 victory in Game Three at Nyayo Gymnasium, following two nail-biting wins at their Makande Gymnasium fortress in Mombasa — edging Sparks 49-48 in the opener and 54-49 in Game Two.

“This victory is very sweet for us,” said an elated Ocholla.

“We lost the title last season to Equity, but this time we have brought it back to Mombasa. Out of 32 games this season, we only lost three, and we didn’t lose a single game at home. That shows the hard work, resilience, and teamwork of our players.”

Ocholla admitted the finals were a stern test but praised his side for keeping their cool under pressure.

“It was a very tough and tense final. Zetech came determined not to give us an easy time, but my players stepped up. Everyone gave their best, and we played as one team. That made the difference,” added Ocholla.

While celebrating the championship, the coach stressed that the Dockers’ journey is only beginning.

“For now, we celebrate, because the players deserve it. But soon, we will go back to preparations. We have many competitions ahead, Zone 5 in a month’s time, and the league will restart shortly after. It will be challenging, but we must be ready to defend our trophy,” noted Ocholla.

The Mombasa-based giants have now cemented their dominance in Kenyan women’s basketball, adding yet another glittering chapter to their history. With a blend of seasoned campaigners and fresh talent, the Dockers’ focus now shifts to **defending their crown** and flying Kenya’s flag high in regional competitions.
