Ebwali hit Chavakali to book Emusire in Vihiga County final

Ebwali High School football team stormed into the Vihiga County Term Two Games final with a commanding 3-0 victory over rivals Chavakali High School in the semi-finals held at Kigama High School on Friday afternoon.

This is the second straight year the former national champions have edged out their bitter rivals having also beaten them in the county final last year to retain their title.

Ebwali will now face Emusire High School in a much-anticipated final on Saturday.

Emusire defeated Vihiga High School 2-0 in the other semi-final clash held on Friday.

Ebwali delivered a spirited performance against Chavakali, dedicating the win to their injured teammate Derick Oketch.

Oketch, a key member for the side, suffered a leg injury during the preliminary stages of the competition against Kisangula.

The setback ruled him out of the remainder of the tournament, but his teammates carried his spirit onto the pitch.

Delvin Atsingale was the star of the match, netting a brilliant brace to put Ebwali firmly in control.

Melloy Odhiambo added a third goal to seal the dominant win and ensure Ebwali’s safe passage to the final set for Saturday.

Head coach Leonard Makini praised his players’ determination and unity after the final whistle.

"The boys are in good spirits, and the results speak for themselves. A 3-0 win in the semifinals is a big victory. We've been working hard to be at this level.

"We have our sights on nationals, we are already advanced to the regionals, and we will be fighting for a spot at the nationals and beyond."

In the girl’s final, Madira girls will be facing Ibubi Girls after a 2-0 win over Kilingili secondary.

The two finalists in both categories have already qualified for the regional games.
