In a ground-breaking move for Kenya's rapidly growing esports community, the Esports Kenya Federation has announced the launch of the inaugural eFootball Mobile Cup, scheduled for June 2, 2025, at the KCB Sports Ground in Ruaraka, Nairobi.

The tournament is set to make history as the first in-person mobile eFootball competition in the country.

Featuring both men's and women's categories, the event aims to promote inclusivity and spotlight the rising digital talent across Kenya.

“This tournament will give both female and male gamers a platform to showcase their skills and get rewarded,” said Ronny Lusigi, President of the Esports Kenya Federation, in an interview with Citizen Digital.

“Most importantly, it signals the diversification of our competitions—this time through smartphones rather than our previous PlayStation tournaments.”

Gamers from across the country are expected to participate, competing for a total cash prize pool, including Ksh.15,000 for the men’s champion and Ksh.10,000 for the women’s winner. Runners-up in each category will also take-home cash rewards.
