Ex-French star Ginola admitted after cardiac arrest

Former France international David Ginola is reportedly in a stable condition in hospital in Nice after being admitted on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Ginola suffered the heart attack late afternoon in Mandelieu, just outside of Nice, according to reports.

The 49-year-old, who played for Paris Saint, Germain, Newcastle and Tottenham was taking part in a golf competition at the Mapauto Golf Cup for various sports personalities, when he collapsed.

He is said to be unconscious, but in a stable condition after being intubated and placed on oxygen.

Ginola spent 10 seasons playing in Ligue 1 before making the move from Paris Saint-Germain to Newcastle in 1995.

The forward spent the remainder of his playing career in the Premier League, making 100 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur before retiring from the game in 2002 while at Everton.

Last year Ginola launched a bid for the FIFA presidency, but was forced to withdraw after failing to receive backing from five member associations.
