Nzoia Falcons’ lethal striker Violet Nanjala Wanyonyi will have to wait until
August 20, 2022 to complete her move to Moroccan top tier team Club Municipal de
Laayoune.
The
deal was expected to be sealed on Monday, July 15, 2022 but according to
Wanyonyi, the deal was delayed so as to allow her new club to complete a
pre-season tournament.
Wanyonyi
who had a one month trial with the team in March this year impressed the club
bosses who have been keen to rope her in their pre-season tournament but with
the new development she will have to wait a little longer before joining the
North African country.
“They
had a pre-season tournament which kicked off on July 25 and that’s the reason
why they decided to postpone the deal. The club bosses wanted me to be part of
the tournament and that’s why they were pushing for the deal to materialize on
time but since both parties including my parent club Trans Nzoia were not in agreement
by then, they had no option but just to postpone it,” she claimed.
Wanyonyi
also played for Vihiga Queens on loan scoring one of the two goals that the
Kenya Women Premier League champions managed in Egypt during the inaugural women
champions’ league in November 2021, scoring against Morocco's ASFAR as Queens
secured a 2-0 win, lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa before
suffering a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Nigeria's Rivers Angels.
The
striker who missed the first round of the Kenya Women Premier League last
season was lethal for Trans Nzoia Falcons as she assisted the tea finish in the
seventh place with 30 points, 30 behind Vihiga Queens who were crowned champions.
