The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) had a successful FIFA governance workshop concluded on Wednesday in Nairobi, bringing together National Executive Committee members and key Secretariat staff for a focused engagement on governance and financial management.

Led by FIFA Member Associations Development Manager Abigail Lemma Hailemichael and Finance Services Manager Meryem Atouk, the workshop aimed to strengthen FKF’s internal structures and enhance professional standards across the federation.

The sessions were designed to equip FKF leadership with the knowledge and tools necessary to align operations with global best practices in football governance.

In a show of unified commitment, the FKF leadership, under the stewardship of President Hussein Mohammed, actively participated in the sessions.

President Hussein underscored the federation’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and organisational growth.

“Over two days, we deliberated on how to better govern our game with transparency, professionalism, and integrity. I thank FIFA’s Hailemichael and Atouk for their support and direction. This is part of our ongoing effort to build a football ecosystem Kenyans can trust and believe in,” Hussein said.

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in interactive discussions and practical exercises designed to enhance financial oversight, compliance, internal controls, and long-term strategic planning.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of clear governance structures, ethical leadership, and sound financial practices in driving sustainable football development.

The facilitators from FIFA shared key insights drawn from global case studies, highlighting how strong governance serves as the foundation for successful football institutions.

Their engagement with FKF was part of FIFA’s wider initiative to empower Member Associations with the capacity and resources to govern effectively and sustainably.

As the workshop concludes, FKF has reiterated its commitment to implementing the lessons learned and strengthening its operational framework.
