FKF pays tribute to former football boss Hatimy

Former Football Kenya Limited (FKL) president Mohammed Hatimy has passed on after succumbing to COVID-19 related complications, his family said on Saturday.

Hatimy was also a nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Mombasa and Chairman of region’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The country’s football fraternity and political class rallied around Hatimy’s family, paying tribute to the administrator who served as FKL chief between 2005 to 2011.

“On behalf of Football Kenya Federation (FKF), we convey our deep sorrow, sympathy and hearfealt condolences to the family, friends and football fraternity for losing this great soccer leader.

“This is a sad loss, not only for their immediate families, but for the entire Kenyan football fraternity and indeed to the nation as a whole.

“Hatimy was a dedicated leader of this beautiful game who worked tirelessly with his immeasurable contributions to make our football great. This is our collective loss. We mourn with you,” FKF President Nick Mwendwa said in a statement.
