Following the victory at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Gor top the league standings with 34 points, five points ahead of second-placed Posta Rangers after 16 rounds of matches.

Meanwhile, Wycliffe Omondi was the lone scorer in the 61st minute as Nairobi City Stars edged Kakamega Homeboyz in Bukhungu.

The win saw City Stars climb to fifth on the standings with 27 points, a performance that impressed head coach Nicholas Muyoti.

“I really thank God for the win. What the boys did today was very impressive against a very good team like Homeboyz. I am particularly happy with the character and strength my players displayed. I can only congratulate my boys for the good job,” said Muyoti.

On his part, Homeboyz goalkeeper coach John Waw bemoaned mistakes that cost his side points.

Homeboyz dropped to fourth on the log with 27 points as third-placed KCB.

“We did not deserve to lose today. They utilized their chances well and got the points but for us we have a lot of work to do especially in attack ahead of league resumption,” Waw said.

After the conclusion of match day 16, the league takes a two-week break for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
