The FKF Premier League title contest may have concluded last Sunday after Kenya Police lifted their first ever topflight gong with a match to spare in the 2024/25 season.

But ahead of the final fixture there is more drama at the bottom than the top with six teams sucked into the relegation battle seeking to retain their topflight status.

Mara Sugar, FC Talanta, Posta Rangers, Nairobi City Stars, Murang’a Seal and Bidco United —all are mathematically not safe and have a break-or-make moment this weekend.

Kariobangi Sharks and Ulinzi Stars are mathematically in danger but realistically safe from the chop, tying with 37 points in 11th and 12th places, with a goal difference of -3 and -4 respectively.

Bottom placed Bidco United are 32 points, just two adrift of safe area occupied by Posta Rangers in 15th on 34 points, level with City Stars who occupy the promotion/relegation playoff slot.

Seventeenth-placed Murang’a Seal also have 34 points but with inferior goal difference compared with Bidco and Rangers.

Talanta are just one point above in 14th while Mara Sugar have 36 points in 13th place.

Bidco will wrap up the campaign away to Sofapaka FC while Seal host Talanta in one of the most anticipated games.

City Stars will be up against Mathare United while Rangers will be seeking maximum points away in Mombasa against Bandari.

Mara Sugar, who are eying to keep their topflight status after first ever appearance in the league, will be facing Kariobangi Sharks.

Jackline Juma’s Talanta will hope Emmanuel Osoro finds his goal scoring touch and fire them to victory. A defeat will be a big blow to them, and will turn their hopes to the gods of football to smile on them elsewhere.

Posta Rangers will be relying on the tactical mind of head coach Sammy ‘Pumzo’ Omollo to cross them over the line against Bandari in Mbaraki.

Pumzo is a familiar face in the relegation battle and will be keen on saving the mail men after his heroics with Shabana the previous season.

Muranga Seals will be keen to build on the good run they have been having at home. They have not lost at home in six successive games, winning three and drawing three.

If they beat Talanta, they will move 2 points clear of Talanta and will need divine favour and a slip from their relegation rivals.

Bottom placed Bidco have a much complicated scenario, they have to beat Sofapaka who have nothing to play for and pray for a draw between fellow strugglers Muranga Seals and Talanta, then hope Bandari beat Posta and Mathare beat City Stars to survive.
