Former AFC Leopards striker Mike Baraza has returned into active football after 2 years of “temporary retirement”.

According to kpl.co.ke, Baraza, who parted ways with AFC Leopards in 2013 has signed a six-month deal with Western Stima where he expects to touch base with local football as he prepares for a future in a managerial position.

“I am here only for six months during which I plan to help the club in the areas I will be required and after that I shall explore other options in my career,” he said.

Stima chairman Laban Jobita said that the decision to sign the 36-year-old was arrived at by the technical bench who felt that he was the answer to their blunt strike force.

“Baraza was among the many players who turned up for our trials earlier in the month and the bench was impressed with his performance,” said Jobita.

“I know that he has not played for a while now, but the coach and his assistant have assured me that he will be of substantial help the strike force which has lacked punch this season.”

Other than Baraza, Stima have also signed Maurice Ojwang, promoted from the club’s under 19 side, and Ugandan Ivan Sekazza signed from Qatar Aspire Academy during the current June transfer window.

Stima are currently placed fifth on the league table with 23 points two points below AFC Leopards.
