Former Rangers player Arnold Peralta has been shot dead while on holiday at the Caribbean coast.
According to BBC, the 26-year-old midfielder was killed in the car park of a shopping centre at La Ceiba in his home country Hondurus.
Police have said that they have launched investigations into the incident though no arrests have been made.
The director of Honduran football federation Osman Madrid mourned Peralta’s death saying it was a great loss to the country’s football team.
Peralta signed for Rangers in June 2013 after moving from Honduran side Vida, helping the Scottish giants win the 2013-14 Scottish League One title.
He moved to Honduran side Olimpia in January this year.
The midfielder represented Honduras at the 212 Olympic Games in London but missed the 2014 Brazil World Cup through injury.
