Gaspo Women FC Team Manager Vivian “Komullo” Akinyi has hailed her charges for the 4-2 win against Thika Queens on Wednesday which helped them cement their place on top of the Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL) table.

Playing at Thika Stadium, the Jacob “Ghost” Mulee coached side got their goals through Elizabeth Wambui who scored a brace as Diana Wacera and Lydia Akoth added one each.

The consolation goals for the defending champions Thika Queens were scored by Stellah Odhiambo and Pauline Musungu.

Akinyi reminded her players there was no room for slip ups over the remaining three games of the season with second-placed Vihiga Queens, who only trail on goal difference, ready to pounce.

“I’m happy that we have kept our dream to clinch the title alive having won yesterday. I congratulate my players for the good fight despite Thika being a tough side.

“We are focused to win all remaining matches as we eye to play in the Cecafa Club championship title and later qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League later in the year,” Akinyi said.

Elsewhere at Gems Cambridge, Zetech Sparks pulled a 1-1 draw against Trans Nzoia Falcons as Nakuru Cty Queens settled for 3-3 draw against Wadadia at the ASK ground in Nakuru.

Kangemi Ladies did not honour their match against Kisumu All Starlets at Dagoretti High School in Nairobi and as a result, Kisumu were awarded three points and two goals.

One fixture was scheduled to  be played today pitting Kayole Starlets FC and Bunyore Starlet at Camp Toyoyo in Nairobi, which was among six midweek fixtures scheduled for Wednesday but had to be pushed to today due to the rescheduled match (Bunyore versus Kagemi) which was to be played last Sunday).

The league will enter its 19th round on Saturday where all 12 teams will be on action.
