Gaspo Youth train eyes on women Premier League title
Gaspo Youth FC are aiming to lift the Kenyan women Premier League title this season after they rose to the summit of the log by winning two matches at the weekend.
The Jackline Juma coached side collected six points after thrashing Kisumu All Stars 4-0 and Oserian Ladies 1-0 to earn stretch their points tally to 33 after playing 11 matches.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, a confident coach Juma said he believes his charges have what it takes to challenge for the honours.
“We have been fighting for the top position for so long but finally we are there, I congratulate my team for the well job done. I will be happy if we win the league this season. I know it will not be that easy but we shall try our best,’’ she said.
Juma at the same time believes there is much to be done in her team more so the striking department which she feels is not delivering.
“We have been winning most of our matches by one or two goals, we need to up our games and that’s why I call on my strikers to put more effort and we shall do it.”
In yesterday’s match against Oserian at Ruiru grounds, Wincate Kaari scored the all important goal in the 51 minute to earn Gaspo the three points while Nyuki Starlets came from a goal down to beat host Makolanders 2-1 at Camp Toyoyo as Kisumu All Starlets managed a 4-0 win over hosts Zetech Sparks.
Coast based Spedag picked up their first win of the season after disappointing Kayole Starlet 2-1 at the Stima Members Club with the goals coming from Peris Momanyi and Carolyne Omondi while Vidah Wairimu netted Kayole’s consolation.
