Gitau re-elected as Kakamega Hockey Association president
Kakamega Hockey Association president John Gitau
has retained his seat after winning the Sunday’s county association elections held
during the annual general meeting in Kakamega.
Gitau, who will be serving his second and final
term, will be deputised by James Chege who retained his position while Nancy Mihadia was freshly elected to serve as the second vice president. Celestine Muhati was elected as the new deputy secretary general.
Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) secretary general Wycliffe
Ongori had pushed the county association’s elections deadline from last month
to March 20 following late registration from some of the union county
affiliates.
James Chege (vice president), Okova Peter
(secretary general), Opondo Robert (treasurer), Conrad Bihembo (public
relations officer) and Wycliffe Musonye (fixtures secretary) are other five
officials who will be serving for the second term, alongside Gitau, after they
successfully retained their positions.
On the other hand, Nairobi Hockey Association
(NHA) AGM failed to take place due to lack of quorum.
According to a letter released late Monday by the
NHA secretary general Thomas Olago Olal, the meeting will instead be held on March
20 at City Park Hockey Stadium boardroom.
Olal will not be seeking for re-election as he has
diverted his attention to politics where he is eyeing the Member of County
Assembly position for the Kajulu Ward in Kisumu East, Kisumu County.
