Gor confirm exits, Tusker to bolster attack

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia have confirmed the departure of seven players from the club ahead of new season.

Jacques Tuyisenge who transferred to Angola’s Petro Atletico and Francis Kahata who signed for Simba SC are the biggest names on the list that also includes goalkeeper Shaban Odhoji.

Others are Ugandan striker Erisa Ssekisambu, defender Pascal Ogweno and midfielder Cercidy Okeyo who were all omitted from Gor’s squad that travelled to Rwanda for the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup.

At the same time 11-time KPL champions Tusker FC will focus on strengthening their attacking department as they beef up for the upcoming season.

Tusker who began their pre season training last week will be hoping to fight for the title having finished fourth last term.

“We are trying to see some new players and the progress is good. We will maintain the team but we will have to add about four or five players especially in the strike force,” Tusker coach Robert Matano said.

Matano further noted that the club will promote some players from the academy  having already assessed seven of them during the ongoing training.

“I am interested in including two or three of them  in the senior team and am hoping they will take the opportunity  series ,”said the veteran coach.

The Brewers  who finished fourth last season will be planning some local and international friendlies before the start of the new season, they will faced the defending champions Gor Mahia in the opening fixture .
