Gor crash out of CAF Champions League

Gor Mahia FC drew 3-3 on aggregate with Lobi Stars of Nigeria but were dumped out of the CAF Champions League on away goal rule havin squandered a healthy 3-1 first leg advantage to lose 2-0 on Saturday.

It seemed Gor would see out the tie having held on until the 70th minute when Sikiru Alimi put the hosts in front to leave his side needing one goal to sail through.

The returning striker delivered with just two minutes left on the clock, sealing a painful exit for the Kenyan champions who will now drop to the CAF Confederation Cup for the second year running.

Kenya’s other CAF representative, Kariobangi Sharks, were knocked out by Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko following 2-1 aggregate loss.

Fatawu Safiu put Kotoko in front in the 17th minute and Patilah Omoto levelled matters eight minutes later but the hosts went ahead again five minutes to the break when captain Amos Frimpong scored from a penalty.
