Gor Mahia enter new partnership deal

Gor Mahia FC has signed a five-year partnership deal with Muhoroni-based Agro Chemical through its gin brand Patriot.

In the agreement signed on Wednesday, Gor will benefit from a percentage of sales of the brand, according to CEO Lordvic Aduda.

Last month, Gor received Sh1 million from Keroche Breweries to shoulder their financial burden and while there was talk a permanent sponsorship deal could be reached, the agreement with competitors Agro Chemical could be a signal that such talks, if any, broke down.

The club’s sponsor for the last three years – SportPesa – cancelled their partnership four months ago after the betting company ended its operations in the country.

Gor’s previous partnership with a baking company ended prematurely ‘without any notable benefit to the club’. Counter accusations between Gor and the bread baking company ended up in dissolution of the partnership leaving Gor to seek other avenues.

The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) record champion are set to jet out of the country on Friday for the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoffs against DR Congo giants Motema Pembe.

But to date, Aduda says, Gor are still waiting for the government’s promise to avail their flight tickets to the Congolese capital Kinshasa which will host the return leg.

“Our treasurer and the team manager are on it. They are chasing for the tickets as some other officials are busy processing Congolese visas,” Aduda said.

Gor drew 1-1 with Motema Pembe during Sunday’s opening leg in Kasarani and need must win away or secure a scoring draw of 2+ goals in order to reach the group stages of the competition.
