Gor Mahia start on a high, Bandari extend good run

Gor Mahia started off the season a high after beating Mathare United 4-0 in Football Kenya Federation league match staged in Machakos.

Midfielder Austin Odhiambo opened the score-sheet in the 45th minute. The two teams went into the breather with Mahia leading 1-0.

Second half saw a torrent of goals as Musa Shariff, Geoffrey Ochieng’ and Gedeon Bendeka all finding the net to give Gor Mahia a convincing 4-0 win over the Slum Boys.

The win marks the first league win for the new coach Leonardo Neiva who has a task of guiding his troops through the season after being bundled out of CAF Champions League last weekend in Egypt by Al Ahly.

This is the second time the in a decade the defending champions were meeting Mathare United in their first match of the season – K’Ogalo having beaten the slum 4-2 in 2015.

In Other league matches played today, Bandari squeezed a 1-0 win against Sofapaka to extend their good start into the season – having won two matches and drawing one.

Elsewhere, Talanta FC left it late to grab a point against Bidco United in the 1-1 draw.
