High stakes as Sakaja Super Cup enters second round
There is expected scintillating
football action across Nairobi County as the matches in the 2024 Sakaja Super
Cup tournament enter the second round this weekend.
This follows the opening week that
saw teams square it out at the various Sub County level in the scintillating competition.
The second-round draw was conducted
on Thursday, 24th October promising high-octane football action across the
county.
In Embakasi Central Sub County,
Kachizi FC is lined up to face Mwangaza Hotspur on Saturday 26 at the Calvary
grounds before Morefire plays Nasra Santos at the same venue.
Dr. Mwenje will face Kayole City in
the last match of the day.
In Roysambu Sub County that produced
the winner of the first edition, matches are lined up at various grounds with
Blitz FC playing Roysambu Sharks at Mahiga Primary grounds on Saturday 26
October.
In the 4:00 kick off, Saints FC will
entertain Union All-Stars.
Langata Sub County has four matches
on the cards in the weekend. G-Star FC will host FC 4G as Juakali play Rusa
Academy.
Steplink Academy will face off with
Highrise FC as Undugu Famere play Glion FC. Wilson FC has been given a bye for
lack of an opponent in the draw. The same will be replicated in Dagoretti North
as Saints FC move to the next round without touching a ball.
In other Sub County matches in
Dagoretti North, Slow Burn will host Lavington United as FIFA best entertain
Team Congo United reformed. Suncity FC on the other hand has a date with Boom
FC.
In Kibra Sub County, Gullyside FC has
drawn a derby with Katwekera Stars while Lexus United will be up against Lindi
Kings. In another bare knuckle contest, Kibera Arts play Interbase while Kibera
Golden will face off with Maranatha United.
Slum Scorers will headline tough
contests in Mathare as they face off with Young Boys in one of the six matches
in Mathare Sub County. Kiamaiko All Stars are set for duel with Mathare
Legends.
Starehe Sub County will see school
boys Highway Secondary come up against Siligos Rovers FC Lions play Parkroad as
Kenya Mass play in a tough duel of institutions against the National Youth
Service. Five Stars will be against Waithaka Vetos while Kagira United play
Wazalendo in the Dagoretti South round two matches.
Matches are expected to be played in
all subcounty as the knock out rounds continue. Two teams from each Sub County
will then proceed to the next round where they will play with teams which
escaped the first elimination courtesy of their affiliation to Football Kenya
Federation Nairobi East and Nairobi West branches.
This year's competition will follow a
knockout format, with matches starting at the Sub County level.
Teams which have
registered to play in the lower Football Kenya Federation Nairobi Branches
leagues will not be required to play in the preliminary knock outs as they got
byes into the next round.
Teams not affiliated to any FKF league will face off as they seek for two representatives from every sub county to join the registered teams in the next round of matches.
