Homeboyz bag Dala Sevens title

Homeboyz RFC are the 2022 Dala Sevens champions.

The Nairobi based side outclassed Menengai Oilers 19-14 to win the title at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu as the curtains came down on the 19th edition of the event at the lakeside city.

Homeboyz started on the front footing when Kenya Under-20 international Armon Nyakundi pounced on a mispass by Nondies dashing to go over the whitewash.

By the time he intercepted the ball there was no question as to whether he'll touch down, the query was at which angle and with acres of space ahead of the chasing Nondies players he comfortably placed it under the posts and Maranga Nyakundi was at hand to convert.

Nondies however fought back through beautiful interchange of passes leading  Amos Onyikwa to equalise for a converted try for a 7-7 deadlock 

Homeboyz would however strike two successive tries through Leonard Mugaisi and shortly thereafter Collins Shikoli put them on the brink of victory with the third try, Brian Juma converting for a healthy 19-7 lead.

Beldad Ogega reduced the deficit for Oilers late, late in the game, Tony Oketch converting but it was too little too late as Homeboyz made a toast for their first circuit title this term.

For Oilers, the wait stretches further after losing two successive finals - in Mombasa and now Kisumu.

Action moves to the Prinsloo Sevens set for Nakuru next weekend.
