Homeboyz, Impala advance to Sepetuka Cup quarters

Hosts Menengai Homeboyz made their intentions of winning this year’s inaugural Sepetuka Sevens known after recording a crushing  29-10 win over nationwide side Mount Kenya University in their first match on day one at the Eldoret Sports Club.

The ‘Deejays’ were inspired by this victory and went on to whip campus boys, Mean Machine, 26-12 in a one sided affair. These wins confirmed the hosts place in tomorrow’s Cup quarters with one game to spare against the mighty  Harlequins.

Impala Saracens also romped to tomorrow’s quarters, becoming the second team to do so.

“The Sarries” ran in five tries to humiliate Prinsloo champions KCB rugby 29-5 in their first game of Pool A .

Sammy Motari, Ian Mabwa, Paul Mutsami and the swift Samson Onsomu, were the destroyers for Impala Saracens, as Isaac Njoroge scored the consolation tie for the bankers.

Impala saw off University side Catholic Monks with a similar margin to sail through to Cup quarters and top Pool A.They now have high chances of meeting the winner of Pool D.

In the Kakamega derby, Kabras Sugar thrashed their neighbors’ Western Bulls 45-5  to record the highest score in day one of action.

Menengai Oilers also saw off  neighbors’ Nakuru RFC 17-12 in a tightly contested affair .They went on to brush off

Blak Blad 26-24 to book a spot in the Cup quarters with a game in hand against wounded Kenya Cup side Nondescripts.

Prinsloo champions KCB  bounced back in the title race with a 33-5 win against tier- two side Catholic Monks with a game to play against Mwamba, with both teams in need of a win after faltering in their first games .

Mwamba will be banking on big gun Humphrey Khayange and the new kid in the block Alex Arturo who scored seven tries in day one of action to steer them to the Cup quarters.
