At the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma, Wazito FC's bid for top-flight survival was handed a boost after the visitors claimed a 1-0 victory thanks to Amos Asembeka's first half winner.
They remained 17th with 25 points and within just a point of Vihiga Bullets who occupy the promotion playoff slot just above them while Nzoia are four points above them in the safety of 15th place.
Mathare United have already been relegated from the league after they forfeited three consecutive matches over financial challenges with that decision formally communicated on Saturday by the Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee.
