Kakamega Homeboyz defeated Tusker FC 1-0 on Thursday as they climbed above KCB FC into the summit of the FKF Premier League standings.

Defender George Odiwuor’s third minute goal proved the winner at the Bukhungu Stadium as the hosts sunk the champions and preserved their unbeaten streak.

Homeboyz entered the match level with KCB on 24 points but trailing on goal difference and have now taken charge of the title race whilst remaining the only club yet to lose a match this season.

Tusker were forced to the backfoot early in the first half with goalkeeper Patrick Matasi keeping them in the match with a string of impressive saves.

The Brewers mounted a strong late push for an equalizer in the final 30 minutes but it never arrived with goalkeeper Godfrey Oputi shutting the visitors out.

Tusker coach Robert Matano blamed his boys for lack of concentration and poor marking, though most of his key players are nursing injuries.

We lacked concentration and we did not mark our opponents in the first half and that is what made us lose today,” he said.

His counterpart Bernard Mwalala was full of praise for his team's performance following their back-to-back wins in the league.
