The Tujiamini initiative by a popular gaming firm is redefining the impact of its Gold Awards, which are worth Ksh. 1,000,000 by channeling support towards community-led projects, thus creating fundamental transformation across Kenya.

So far, three winners have been unveiled—two from Central Kenya and one from Western Kenya—whose work covers agriculture, health education, and media.

In Kutus village, located in Kirinyaga county, Henry leads a group of dairy farmers who also support a local football team, Homebase FC, which is made up of junior and senior players participating in different leagues.

Their model allows for nurturing young talent while ensuring all players get equal playtime.

Profits from their decentralized farms are consolidated to sustain the team’s activities. With the equipment acquired through the Tujiamini award, they are now venturing into milk value addition to create more jobs for the youth and boost profitability.

“With the Tujiamini award, we are about to start our value addition project and enhance our profit. This was part of our five-year plan, but with Tujiamini, we can gladly say we are living in the 2028 dream,” said Henry.

Another standout from Kerugoya, Kirinyaga county, Patricia Henry, a Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics expert working in the Mt. Kenya area, has been educating farmers on the dangers of chemical-laden agriculture and the benefits of returning to indigenous crops.

Her advocacy has seen many embrace healthier practices, culminating in a graduation ceremony for certified farmers.

“The equipment I have received through Tujiamini will help me have more interactive sessions with my farmers and expand the capacity of my classes and lessons,” Patricia shared.

Busia Border FM—broadcasting on 89.9 FM to over 500,000 listeners in Busia County has been at the heart of youth empowerment.

Located in Marachi, an area affected by crime and drug abuse, the station offers training in media production and platforms for young talent to thrive.

Through the Tujiamini support, the station has acquired new studio equipment, including a broadcast mixer, microphones, and headphones, which will help it improve its production standards and deepen its impact.

Speaking on behalf of the gaming industry, Nelson Odero commended the grassroots innovation demonstrated by the winners.

“We are incredibly proud to witness the tangible change our Tujiamini Gold Award winners are driving in their communities.

“These are stories of resilience, innovation, and purpose. We encourage individuals and groups from all regions to participate in this initiative and submit their applications.”

The Tujiamini initiative is a back-to-back platform that runs its campaigns across the country every month and is currently in the coastal region.

With an annual budget of over 30 million, it seeks to support talent, sports, and the community through different categories: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Cheza Dimba, tailored explicitly for grassroots football teams playing in regional and below leagues.
