Kenyan long-distance marathon star and two-time gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge has dispelled rumours that he has officially retired from athletes after failing to complete the Paris Olympics marathon.

Kipchoge, widely celebrated for his resilience and unparalleled achievements, now, sets his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, planning to approach the marathon with a renewed strategy.

Upon arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after the Olympics, Kipchoge reflected on his journey, acknowledging that setbacks have been integral to his success.

"As an athlete, I will be at the Olympics (2028 Los Angeles Olympics) in another capacity to inspire hope and optimism not just in my country and continent, but across the entire world," Kipchoge stated.

The "No Human is Limited" champion emphasized his desire to allow emerging stars to shine and break records, even as his own 2019 Vienna world record of 1:59:40 remains unchallenged.

Kipchoge further highlighted the importance of participation in world competitions, noting that fans often mistakenly equate participation with winning medals. He explained that while the number of participants adds value to competition, winning medals adds merit to the individual competitor.

Eliud Kipchoge is remembered as a legendary figure in the history of marathon running. Over his career, he has made approximately 20 appearances in world marathons, securing 15 victories. The Paris Olympics, though challenging, marked a new chapter for the world record holder—a race where many anticipated he would clinch at least a bronze or silver medal.
