I regret joining Arsenal and I blame Wenger for it, defender claims

Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has launched a scathing attack on club manager Arsene Wenger for apparently misleading him over his future.

The French international is in line to leave Arsenal during the current January transfer window with Aston Villa and German-side Bayer Leverkusen hunting for his signature.

Debuchy has only made two appearances for Arsenal since signing from Newcastle for £12 million in July 2014 with the last appearance being on November 8, 2015.

“I would have preferred to have left last summer but the coach told me I would get my chance. This has not been the case though,” he said.

Reports on The Mirror indicate that Aston Villa have already opened negotiations with Debuchy over a probable move to the bottom-placed side in an effort to maintain their stay in the league.

The 30-year-old has a contract with Arsenal which expires in 2019.
