Ignore Omalla links with USMA, says Gor coach McKinstry

Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry says they have received no offer for their lead striker Benson Omalla, amid rumours that the Harambee Stars attacker is on the verge of joining Algerian topflight side USM Alger.

Earlier this week, the social media was awash with reports that Omalla was finalising his move to USMA.

According to McKinstry, Omalla is still under contract with the record Kenyan champions, and a move to any club would require all procedural requirements to be met.

The coach further affirmed there is no release clause any club would activate at the present.

''We have not received any offer of interest to Benson. He is still our player and he has no release clause in his engagement with the club for now,'' said the coach

''You see, some people will report unverified information to attract some attention. The truth is that neither USM Alger nor any other team has approached us seeking the signature of Benson.''

The tactician however says they cannot stand in the way of any player should there be a good offer.

Omalla is the current top scorer in the Kenyan Premier League with nine goals to his name.

Meanwhile McKinstry has confirmed the looming exit of Ugandan International Rodgers Mugisha, who is set to join club AC Horsens of Denmark.

''I can confidently say that Mugisha is in his final stages before joining the Danish second tier club. We are almost done with his move."

The Ugandan has been instrumental in Gor Mahia's first half of the season, and his departure will be deeply felt, according to the coach.

Gor Mahia are still unbeaten in the current campaign and McKinstry says it will be a plus finishing unbeaten.

"The run has been good and we are aware every team facing Gor Mahia would wish to be the one to smash our unbeaten run. We are playing cautiously,  as it would be a big achievement for us to keep the record.''
