Nzoia Sugar tactician Salim Babu says the club is prowling
the transfer market for two central defenders. The Sudi-based side recently
lost seasoned defender Salim Odeka, who exited after a year, and are keen on
beefing up that department with new faces ahead of the second leg, which starts
in under a fortnight.
However, the soft spoken tactician is hoping that most of
his first team players will choose to stay with the team.
A number of Nzoia players have been linked with other suitors
in the FKF-PL. They include Kevin Juma, Boniface Munyendo, Joseph Mwangi, and
Hassan Beja
"We lost Salim Odeka, and that means that we have to
recruit in that department, and we will get one or two central defenders. As
Nzoia we do not go for big names, we nurture talents,” he explained.
The youthful side has been suffocating opponents with their
quick passing and high pressing game – a tribute that has seen them emerge as
title challengers. They are second to Gor Mahia on the table with 33 points,
the record champions having four points more.
In an earlier interview, club chairman Evans Kadenge said
they will not stand in the way of any player seeking greener pastures but hoped
they can stay at Sudi to help the team finish top.
"We never stand in the way of our players when an opportunity comes their way, but I have been talking to them at least to remain here and establish themselves more as they help the team finish in a better position, but when they are offered a life-changing opportunity we usually support them.”
